Hey, Curlfriend!

I specialize in Dry Curly Cuts & a No-fuss routine for curls of all kinds.
I am a Jacksonville native that enjoys going on adventures and living life to the fullest. I'm a huge supporter of the arts & music community here in Jax. and love sharing the best local restaurants, places to visit, and events happening in the area.
Married to my best friend of 25 years, together we've raised three boys, now giant size men. When I'm not helping people discover their inner curl, you'll find me on the dance floor or camping with friends and family.
"My favorite thing about being a hair stylist is helping people to love their hair. Curly hair doesn't have to be a chore, it can be simple and easy.
When you sit in my chair I will take the time needed to get to know your curls and together we will find a routine that works for your lifestyle."

When I was growing up I had no clue my hair was even curly. I was convinced it was ugly, bad hair. I would constantly brush it, praying for it to stay small and not turn into a frizzy mess when it dried. Afraid to touch it because it would get bigger and frizzier the more I messed with it.
Perhaps you can relate?
I was sick and tired of not knowing how to manage my hair.
Stylists never offered me styling advice. Instead, they would blow dry my hair straight or I left the salon with wet hair.

In 2002, I met a woman named Lorraine Massey at a hair show. She invited me to come to NYC to learn her dry curly cutting technique called the Deva Cut.
I love cutting curls dry, but I didn't love their styling products.
I began researching curly products and how they react with our humid climate. What I discovered is that a lot of curly products are developed for a drier climate and focus on moisturizing the hair. This is not what you want if you live in a swamp. Too much moisture in a humid climate leads to soft, frizzy, unmanageable hair. If you are struggling with frizz or losing your curl pattern throughout the day, this is why.

I offer hypoallergenic and fragrance-free products in the salon. This allows friends with allergies, sensitivities and auto-immune diseases to be able to experience products that work and are safe to use.
Being a Curlfriend myself, I understand the challenges that you've been dealing with. I am excited to share low maintenance curl methods to help simplify your life.
I invite you to come share stories of disasters and difficulties that you've been faced with on your curl journey.

If you're not a great communicator, don't worry! I am, and I know just what to ask.
Our salon is a safe and inclusive safe space for all!
